Biography

Robert Kubiszyn – acoustic and electric bass player, composer and producer. Born in Cracow, Poland.
Robert is one of the most versatile and in-demand bassists of the Polish scene. He is well known for his talents on both the acoustic and the electric bass guitar.
He has performed as a session musician and sideman throughout his career with a large list of Polish and worldwide artists, with whom he has worked throughout the years, spanning his talent and abilities from jazz to pop.

Winner of the first place in the Jazz Forum magazine’s Readers’ Poll – Jazz Top 2023 in the Bass Guitarist of the Year category.

His discography is over 150 long play albums, recorded with various artists.

Robert’s recent studio and stage collaborations include (among others):
Anna Maria Jopek, with whom he cooperated during her many projects, featuring such legendary artists as Pat Metheny, Makoto Ozone, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Branford Marsalis, Oscar Castroneves, Richard Bona, Dhafer Youssef, Gil Goldstein, Mino Cinelu. 
Gregoire Maret Band, which featured Federico Gonzalez Pena, John Beasley, Jon Cowherd, Kevin Hays, Romain Collin, Jeff “Tain”Watts, Clarence Penn, Eric Harland, Kendrick Scott, Marcus Baylor, Arthur Hnatek, Magnus ÖstrÖm, Liz Wright, Christie Dashiell.
Adam Pieronczyk Band which featured Anthony Joseph, Nelson Veras, John B Arnold, Hernan Hecht.

Robert also worked with many other great musicians such as: Vinnie Colaiuta, Mino Cinelu, Dean Brown, Gary Husband, Jon Herrington, Frank McComb, David Fingers Haynes, Janusz Muniak, Tomasz Stańko, Zbigniew Namyslowski, Maria Schneider with Krzysztof Herdzin Orchestra, Krzysztof Zawadzki, Urszula Dudziak, Michał Urbaniak, Anna Jurksztowicz, Natalia Kukulska, Kuba Badach, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Ania Szarmach.

Robert is also a renowned producer and arranger for other artists. His latest most prominent engagement was the production of the newest album by Michael Patches Stewart, one of the best American trumpeters — ”On Fire” , featuring artists such as Kenny Garett, George Duke, Raul Midon, Poogie Bell, Paul Jackson Jr. 

He also co-produced four albums for Universal Music entitled: “Nap”, “Wolno”(gold record), “KonKubiNap” , “Up!” and one for Agora “WAW-NYC” by Polish jazz star guitarist Marek Napiórkowski.

Robert’s first solo album “Before Sunrise” was released on November 5th, 2010 by Proa Records and Universal Music. The album was nomitated in fourth categories in the prestigious Polish music awards “Fryderyk” and finally received the prize for “The Best Jazz Debute”.

Together with Gregoire Maret, he was involved in the process of creating music, recorded, and mixed soundtracks for two films directed by Swiss filmmaker Fred Baillif: “La Preuve Scientifique de L’Existence de Dieu” (2019), featuring the acclaimed French actress Irène Jacob, and “La mif” (2021), which received the Berlin International Film Festival award in 2022.

In the production of albums for other artists, Robert demonstrated his sound engineering skills, mixing and mastering the following releases: Cezary Konrad – “On Classical,” Krzysztof Dziedzic – “Tempo,” Daniel Popiałkiewicz – “Nada,” Anna Jurksztowicz – “Dziękuję nie tańczę Live 21,” Andrzej Gondek – “MAZE,” Andrzej Święs – “Flying Lion,” Krzysztof Herdzin – “Heart to Heart.”
